QLD: New name, direction for business group

BRISBANE, April 28 AAP - A new name and look heralds a change in direction for Queensland's
largest employer, business and industry group.

Queensland Chamber of Commerce and Industry is now Commerce Queensland.

Chief executive officer Andrew Craig said in a statement the name change marked a new
era in the organisation's 133-year history.

"Commerce Queensland transcends the boundaries of traditional employer groups to deliver
not only traditional services but new and improved services to help business prosper in
the new economy," he said.

Mr Craig said Commerce Queensland would provide greater support to business in regional
Queensland.

"Small business in rural and regional communities are finding it a huge challenge to
bridge the gap between traditional and new economies," he said.

Mr Craig said Commerce Queensland had also formed new strategic alliances to help give
businesses a competitive edge.
